John was born April 23, 1945, in McAllester, Oklahoma. He moved to California at age 3. He grew up in Riverdale, California, where he attended Riverdale High School. Met his wife Linda in Caruthers, California. They were married in December of 1964, in a little church in Riverdale. In December of 1976, they moved to Santa Maria, California.
John worked as a mechanic since he was age 16. When he came to Santa Maria he went to work at Quality Motors, he was there 35 years, from there worked for Santa Maria Diesel 3 years. He retired from there 2009.
In his younger years he served his church as youth director working with the teens. He was an ordained deacon. He is a member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene, Santa Maria, California. His hobbies were fishing and playing golf. He was a good husband and father, and will be dearly missed.
He has four siblings. Survivors include sisters Leoma Green, Colinga, California and Brenda Thompson, Santa Maria, California. He was preceded in death by Glen Newman, brother and Carl Newman, brother and by his parents John Newman Sr. and Rose Newman.
He has 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
