Joseph John Gastelum

Joseph John Gastelum passed away peacefully at the age of 61 on March 15, 2026, at Ryan House Hospice of the Valley.

Joseph was born on May 9, 1962, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Joseph and Nellie Gastelum. He spent his life in the community he called home and was known for his caring nature and quiet presence. Joseph took pride in being a caretaker for his home and family, always willing to lend a hand where it was needed.

Among his nieces and nephew, Joseph was affectionately known as a “Gadget Connoisseur,” always fascinated with the latest devices and technology and happy to share that enthusiasm with those around him.

Joseph is survived by his loving mother, Nellie Gastelum; his sisters, Susana Gastelum (Anthony) and Martina Leyva (Chris); his daughter, Ciara Rodriguez; and his beloved grandsons, Sebastian, Alexis, and Josiah. He is also survived by nine nieces and one nephew who will remember him with love.

Joseph will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

A rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. with memorial service held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26th at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018. Burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Phoenix.
