Kathleen Kehoe Murphy

April 8, 1945 — January 9, 2024

Gilbert

Kathleen Kehoe Murphy was born on April 8, 1945 and passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the age of 78.

Raised by her parents Francis and Florence Kehoe along with her three older siblings, Jane, Jerry, and Tom, in Hawthorne, NJ, Kathy graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1963 and from College Misericordia in Dallas, PA, in 1967. In 1968, she and Daniel Murphy were married at St. Anthony’s parish in Hawthorne and the two settled initially in Highland Falls, NY. Throughout her high school and college years, and through her marriage to Dan, Kathy formed and maintained friendships that grew and deepened for the rest of her life.

In 1978, Kathy and Dan relocated their family from Washingtonville, NY, to Glendale, AZ, where they raised their children and lived for several decades. After Dan’s passing in 2007, Kathy relocated to Gilbert, AZ, to be closer to family.

For a good portion of her professional career, Kathy worked in human resources with American Express where she formed friendships that lasted for years beyond her time with the company. In retirement, Kathy enjoyed traveling both domestically and abroad, visiting family and friends on the east coast, and working as an advocate with CASA of Maricopa County. Always happiest when she was at the beach, Kathy enjoyed spending extended time at the Jersey Shore and Mission Beach in San Diego.

Kathy is preceded in passing by her loving husband Dan and is survived by her daughter, Bridgid Hathaway and her husband Scott of Gilbert, AZ; her son, Ryan and his wife Stacy of Weymouth, MA; and her seven grandchildren, Colin, Jake, Sean, Grace, Maggie, Dylan, and Erin. Nonnie insists each of them is her favorite.

Plans for a memorial service in the late spring are in process, and details will be shared with family and friends once finalized.
