Kathryn "Kathy" Burgoz, a beloved dedicated wife, mother and grandmother passed away unexpectedly from surgery complications on November 15, 2024. She was born in Juneau, Alaska on April 30, 1941. Kathy attended grade school in Phoenix and high school in San Diego and Fresno, CA.
Upon graduation from Fresno High School, Kathy worked for the phone company for four years. She moved to Clarkdale, AZ in 1963 to become a medical assistant for her brother-in-law. She met her future husband Rudy at a prearranged blind date in Cornville, AZ and went on to marry him on July 27, 1966. As they say, the rest is history.
Rudy and Kathy moved to Phoenix in the summer of 1966 and soon started a family. Shortly thereafter, Kathy started attending evening school at Phoenix College to get her Associate Degree in Medical Records. After obtaining her degree she began her career in medical records at Phoenix Camelback Hospital. She became the Director of Medical Records at Scottsdale Behavioral Health and worked there until her retirement in January 2000.
In addition to working full time Kathy was an active mom. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, attended Little League Baseball and Softball games, drove her kids to countless extracurricular activities, cooked homemade meals every night, and made the holidays the best one can imagine!
As she became a grandmother (Nana) and step grandmother, she continued that love and involvement. She would be seen at countless sporting events, dance recitals, plays and celebrations for her four grandkids. And she loved every minute of it.
Most importantly, Kathy was a devoted wife to her husband Rudy. Together they traveled to all 50 states, enjoyed several cruises with friends, and spent wonderful times at their summer home in Overgaard, AZ. She was also a dedicated Sun Devil fan...helping plan and cook at home game tailgates for well over 30 years and traveling to many away football games. Kathy's door was always open to welcome the friends of her husband and kids, as well as the neighbors in Phoenix and Overgaard. She was an incredible hostess!
Kathy is survived by her husband Rudy of 58 years and her loving family - sons Mark Burgoz (wife Michelle), Scott Burgoz, daughter Tina Burgoz, grandchildren Christopher and Brianna Burgoz, and step granddaughters Lauren and Allison Jennings. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Agnes Hared, sisters Betty Lou Nordling, Lois Bill, Agnes Coons and Jo Johnson.
Kathy was very kind and considerate and loved by her family including many nieces and nephews as well as friends and neighbors. She will be missed by all. ❤️
