Kevin Allen Margeson

Kevin Margeson, 61, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on the night of September 7 th , 2026 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Kevin Allen Margeson was born on June 4, 1965, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, to Jack and Janie (Hovey) Margeson. He was baptized on August 22, 1965, at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. Kevin spent his formative years in Maquoketa and later moved to Montrose, Colorado, where he graduated from Montrose High School. During those years, he was very involved in Boy Scouts and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. 

Kevin attended Colorado State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1989. He went on to earn an MBA from Arizona State University in 1996 and a Master of Science in Science and Technology Policy from Arizona State University in 2012. Over the course of his career, Kevin held positions with Honeywell. Kubota, Motorola, EDS, and Anheuser-Busch. He also an adjunct professor at Arizona State University, teaching courses in Space Policy for the Center for Science and Policy Outcomes to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation. 

Kevin decided at 10 years old that he wanted to be a part of space travel and built an accomplished career working in the aerospace division at Honeywell. He was the program lead for international satellite subsystem programs; he was a key member of Honeywell’s International Space Station program specializing in power structures; he drove the build and supply chain for the Orion Spacecraft program during its critical development and early flight periods and most recently was a key member of collaboration programs with NASA to develop next generation technology to advance human space exploration to the Moon and Mars for the Artemis program. While working for Kubota Kevin supported the development and scaling of automation and autonomy technologies for agriculture and construction machines. His command of supply chain and manufacturing helped carry precise machine control from the engineering bench into production and into the hands of operators in the field He was also key to the transition from AgJunction to Kubota. He helped integrate AgJunction's people and technology into Kubota, supporting nearly the entire company portfolio.

Outside of his career, Kevin loved football and baseball, with Chicago teams holding a particularly special place in his heart. He attended as many baseball games as he could, visiting ballparks across the country and cheering on a wide variety of teams. Moving to Phoenix brought him closer to spring training, where he attended as many games as possible, and he made many memorable trips to Wrigley Field to cheer on the Cubs. Kevin was also a devoted Jimmy Buffett fan. He attended many Jimmy Buffett concerts over the years and was a true Parrot Head, with Buffett’s music becoming part of the soundtrack of Kevin’s life. 

After 27 years together, Kevin married his best friend and the love of his life, Veronica Heron on March 16, 2025. Kevin loved the Phoenix food scene and was a longtime regular at favorites including JT’s, Richardson’s, Avanti, and Durant’s. He also loved discovering wineries, and he and Veronica especially enjoyed their trips to the wineries of Southern Arizona. More than anything, Kevin cherished sharing these experiences with Veronica. Together they loved to travel, with adventures that took them throughout the United States and abroad, including several memorable trips throughout Europe. Whether enjoying a favorite restaurant, visiting a winery, attending a ballgame or concert, or exploring somewhere new, Kevin treasured the time they spent together and the memories they created. He also loved sharing those experiences with his family and the many friends he made along the way, including lifelong friendships that remained an important part of his life through the years. 

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Jack Margeson; stepmother, Carmen Margeson; his brother, Nick Margeson and his step-father Ken Dawson. Kevin is survived by his wife, Veronica Heron of Phoenix, Arizona; his mother, Janie Dawson of Gilbert, Arizona; his siblings, Kelly and Melanie Margeson of Parker, Colorado; Kristi and Byno Atkins of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kurtis and Amanda Hankemeier of St. Louis, Missouri; Bret Margeson of Bellevue, Iowa; Shad and Ann Patterson of Maquoketa, Iowa; and his sister-in-law, Judy Margeson of Everson, Washington. He is also survived by his many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who were an important part of his life.
