Marvin “Marv” Collins born March 7, 1940, to Annie Bell and John Collins in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Marvin was educated in the Philadelphia School System and graduated from Germantown High School in 1958.

After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was assigned to the Communications Department and played on the traveling basketball team. While on leave in 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Toliver. In 1962, they had a daughter, Crystal. Marvin was honorably discharged in 1967, sometime after the death of his first wife.

While Marvin was stationed in Delaware, he began attending college at Delaware State University, where he was a Quarterback on the Football Team until he was injured.

In 1968, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to join his brother Ernest Bell. He began working as a Sales Representative for Xerox, selling Commercial Copier Machines.

He later started his own company, Marv Collins Productions, where he promoted concerts for many R&B Artists. During his travels while promoting concerts in New York City, he met and fell in love with Anise Augone, his wife and partner for over 50 years, and became father to Salena, Robert, and Sal, and they relocated to LA with him. They later welcomed daughter Cheyanne in 1977. Soon after they packed up the family to move and raise their children in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Marvin “Marv” Collins always had a flare for fashion and would spend hours getting dressed, making sure his clothes and hair were perfectly styled.

Marvin adored and loved his family. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family. He loved taking care of his grandchildren. Marvin loved to ride his horses and play sports when he was young. He later enjoyed watching his Westerns and games on TV. He loved his Lakers so much that we chose to lay him to rest in his favorite Lakers gear. In his later years, a perfect day would be having a large family gathering, with good food, lots of laughs, and a good game to watch. He was very attached to all of his family pets, including his favorite horse Satin and his favorite German Shepherd, Sadie—who he took everywhere with him, including the office.

Marvin was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend and was always a great source as someone to listen and give advice.

He leaves to celebrate his life: his loving and devoted wife, Anise Collins; children, Crystal, Salena, Robert, Sal, and Cheyanne with husband Chris; grandchildren, Ciarra with husband Carlton, Ashley, Star, Nicholas, Michael, Caden, Carter, Giovanni, and Alexas; great grandchildren, Madison, Cameron, Aubrey, and Maddox; brothers, Ernest with wife Wanda, Harvey, and Charles “Chuck”; sisters, Marlene with husband Frank, Gwendolyn with husband Raymond, and Jackie with husband Terry; host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He is out of pain now as he passed on Good Friday. Which is a deeply meaningful day to pass away, as it aligns with the death of Jesus Christ.

Marvin’s life was one of love, strength, and devotion to those closest to him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
