Phoenix

Mary Ann “Tudy” Schiffbauer was born January 17, 1933, and passed away on Corpus Christi Sunday, June 22, 2025, age 92.

The youngest of eleven children, she was born in Lindsay, Nebraska, to Frank and Marie Pfeifer and grew up on their farm.

She graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey, NE. She married William Leroy Schiffbauer, of Norfolk, NE.

Her first 25 years of marriage to Bill, an Army Master sergeant, included seven children, tours to Germany, Panama, several U.S. states mostly back to their favorite Colorado Springs.

Mary was a tireless homemaker and worked outside the home at Ampex Data Systems, until her retirement.

She was very active at St. Francis Parish in Humphrey, St. Benedict’s Parish and the Benedictine Abbey in Florence and Canyon City, Colorado.

Mary was a firm but tender and loving mother to her children, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She loved sewing, crafting, cooking, and gardening. She beautified their Cedar Ridge home with trees and flowers, despite harsh Colorado mountain weather, and rode her garden tractor to keep up the acreage until she suffered a stroke in 2015. In 2016 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Despite her disabilities, including her speech, she could always manage to say, “good morning”, “Amen”, and “I love you”.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her ten siblings, her daughter-in-law Ann, and great grandson Sam.

She is survived by her son’s Martin (Robin), Rodney (Ann), Rory (Lara), daughter’s Cheryl Butler (Larry), Jodene DeBlois, Antonette Hanko (Joe), and Jennifer McCuddy (Frank), grandchildren Crystal Bowles, Andrea Brown, Nathan and Rory Schiffbauer, Lilly Schiffbauer, Hillary Cinar, Laurence, Joella and Blaise Butler, Spencer and Blake Schiffbauer, Katrina, Gina and Sophia Hanko, and Kelia and Reese McCuddy, and six great grandchildren Bronagh Bowles, Olivia Cinar, Emilia and Nora Juaregui, a Riley and Ada Butler.
