It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary D. Moraga, 93, of Phoenix, Arizona. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and love, in her home on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
Mary was the proud and devoted mother of three children—Joe, Eddie, and Anna—each of whom she cherished deeply and supported unconditionally throughout her life. Her love extended generously to her seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Mary was a woman of deep faith, who lived her life with humility, compassion, and an unshakable trust in God. Her faith and gentle guidance touched countless lives, even beyond her own children and grandchildren—whether as a dedicated teacher’s aide, a caring neighbor, or a sister whose maternal love embraced twelve siblings.
Mary was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a longtime resident of the late Golden Gate neighborhood. She will be remembered as a deeply loving, caring, and selfless woman whose kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary now rejoins her beloved husband and eternal partner, Joe Moraga, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and faith. Their beautiful bond continues as they are reunited once again.
As the matriarch of her family, her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the countless lives she impacted through her compassion and grace. Mary was truly loved by many, and her spirit will remain a guiding light for all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be missed dearly but remembered forever.
A visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday, May 8, beginning at 6:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 9, at Sacred Heart Church, 1421 S 12th St, Phoenix, followed by the burial at St. Francis Cemetery.
