Mary Purnell

Mary Purnell, 100, died November 30, 2025. Born in Bisbee, Arizona to Lebanese parents, Elias and Hanna Ziede, who came to America in 1908. Mary survived three of her four children, two husbands, five brothers and sisters, a grandson and a great grandson.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 with a rosary recitation to be held at 7 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 11th at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 East Campbell Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85016. A private burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

Mary was the matriarch to an extended family and many friends who enjoyed her humor, hospitality and upbeat personality. She was a member of the St. Thomas Sodality.
