Peter J. Bjorklund passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, one day shy of his 61st birthday. Peter was born with Down’s Syndrome and was loved deeply by all who knew him. He attained neither high office nor high net worth, yet few could resist his gentle spirit, joy for life, and loving smile. He enjoyed bowling, dancing to Country & Western music, and spending time with his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. He won many medals in the Special Olympics and was a winner in many nerf gun battles with his brother, John.
A resident of Chino Valley and a former resident of Phoenix, Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Irene Bjorklund, and his sister, Mary Kay Bjorklund, who was also disabled at birth. Inspired by both Peter and Mary Kay, his parents established a campus for disabled adults in Chino Valley nearly 50 years ago. Peter was especially grateful for and fond of all his wonderful caregivers from Intermountain Centers for Human Development.
Peter is survived by brothers, Paul (Anita) Bjorklund and John Bjorklund, and sister, Christine (Patrick Mason) Bjorklund. His nieces and nephews are Kara Beer, Spencer Bjorklund, Britt Bjorklund, Mollie Mason, Daniel Mason, Peter Eric Bjorklund, Emily Drake, and Carly Bjorklund.
The family suggests a donation in honor of Peter’s life to Intermountain Centers for Human Development, 401 N. Bonita Avenue, Tucson, Arizona 85745. (https://www.intermountaincenters.org/support-us)
