Raymond Matthew Whitman

March 19, 1985 — April 12, 2026

Waddell

Raymond Matthew Whitman, known as Matt or Ray, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, strength, and deep love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.

Born and raised in Waddell and Phoenix, Arizona, Matt attended Barry Goldwater High School and Project Challenge. He built his life around the things he loved most—his family, his passions, and the simple joys that made every day meaningful.

Matt had a deep love for working on vehicles and could often be found under the hood or tinkering with something new. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors—camping, fishing, and off-roading were some of his favorite ways to spend time. More than anything, he loved being with his children, creating memories, sharing laughter, and teaching them to embrace life fully.

He was known for his witty dad jokes, his adventurous spirit, and his constant encouragement for others to try new things. Whether it was searching for things he didn’t need, relaxing with family and friends, or cheering on the people he loved as they reached their goals, Matt found joy in the success and happiness of others.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Fran Schroeder and his stepmother Carrie Whitman.

Matt is survived by his wife and soulmate, Amanda Whitman, and their cherished children: Tavin, Liam, Makynzie, and Rymington Whitman, who were the center of his world and the greatest joy of his life.

He is also survived by his grandparents, Gaylon and Barbara Whitman; his parents, Greg (Melissa) Whitman, Erin Whitman, Mike (Jan) Reynolds, and Kim (Chris) Heath; and his siblings, David (Laura) Whitman, Donielle (Jeremy) Rice, Thomas Whitman, Zachary (Mercedes) Whitman, Michael Christensen, Alyssa Reynolds and Izzy Heath.

Matt was a proud uncle to Trey, Lexi, and Jayleen Whitman; Jacob and Miles Rice; Daisy-Ann Whitman; Kaiden and Kennedy Heath; and Aria Conrad. He is also lovingly remembered by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family members.

Matt's presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to those around him. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory will forever be carried in the hearts of those who loved him.
