Ricardo Charsagua Matanane, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family.
Born on December 9, 1940, in Agana, Guam, to Juan and Magdalena Matanane, Ricardo spent his early years surrounded by his Chamorro family and the rich traditions of his island home. He grew up alongside his siblings, Edmund, Carlos, Julia, and Maria, forming bonds that remained important throughout his life.
In the late 1960s, Ricardo embarked on a journey to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities and a brighter future. He eventually made Arizona his home, where he built a life grounded in hard work, perseverance, and dedication to those he loved.
Ricardo was married to the love of his life, Theodora “Dora” Dasalla Matanane, who preceded him in death. Together they shared many years of marriage, raising their children, Ricardo and Virginia, and creating a family rooted in love and support.
Family was the center of Ricardo's life. He took great pride in watching his Chamorro family grow and found immense joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. He was also looking forward to welcoming his fourth great-grandchild, expected in October. His quiet strength, caring nature, and unwavering commitment to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Ricardo is survived by his son, Ricardo; his daughter, Virginia; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a fourth great-grandchild expected in October; and many beloved relatives and friends.
Though he is no longer with us, Ricardo's memory will live on through the lives he touched and the family he cherished. His journey, sacrifice, and enduring love leave a lasting legacy that will continue for generations.
May he rest in eternal peace.
