Shirley Elizabeth Williams

May 11, 1934 — February 27, 2024

Phoenix

Shirley Elizabeth (Winn) Williams was born on May 11, 1934, in Whitehall, Illinois.  She passed away peacefully at home on February 27th, 2024.  Shirley was predeceased by her beautiful daughter, Janelle Elizabeth Williams, and survived by her loving husband, Bill Williams Jr., and devoted son, William Winn Williams.

Shirley wholeheartedly committed herself to the well-being and happiness of her husband and family.  She enriched family gatherings by always being openly affectionate and graciously singing in tune.  Shirley never forgot a birthday or milestone and always thoughtfully sent cards and gifts to ensure everyone felt celebrated.  She captured many special moments by taking and sharing pictures.  Shirley loved to sew and caringly created many special family heirlooms.  Her love of genealogy and tenacity to research and document the family history timelessly preserved the Williams and Winn family legacies.  Shirley was the heart of her community and touched many lives as an educator and faithful prayer partner.  Her impressive career in education spanned nearly half a century, including many wonderful years teaching at Grand Canyon College and leading the Learning Resource Center (LRC) at Arcadia High School, while simultaneously supporting President Bill Williams of Grand Canyon University in her role as first lady.

In the memories she created and the lives she touched, Shirley will forever live on. No formal services will be held. To honor Shirley’s memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made at: Havanese Rescue Inc and at Hospice of the Valley
