Vincent K. Kempton

Vincent K. Kempton died on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of the eighty-four. “Vince” was born in Queens, New York in 1940. He was married to Maureen Ann for over 63 years and is survived by his children, Maureen, Timothy, and Michaela Freemantle, and son-in-law Larry Freemantle and grandfather to Timothy Vincent, Michael Roth, Matthew Joseph, Catherine Nicole, Zachary Vincent, and Ian Michael. He is also survived by his sister Mary Fay, and brothers Joseph & Charles.

Vincent was a graduate of Chaminade High School, in Mineola, New York where he played basketball that led to a scholarship to Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a degree in history. He went on to work for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) – Local 15 of New York. He received his 50 – year pin in October 2018. Vincent coached his daughter Michaela at Saint Dominic High School, Oyster Bay New York, to back-to-back State Championships. 

Services will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix on Friday, February 16th from 11AM-2PM and 7PM-9PM with prayer service at 7:30PM. Mass will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 1PM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road in Phoenix. Vincent will be laid to his final rest at a later date at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.
