(Wally/Walt), 66, of Peoria, AZ passed away peacefully and earned his wings on April 23rd, 2026, surrounded by his loving children after a courageous battle with melanoma.
He was born on July 13th, 1959, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Terry and Mary Francis and moved to Phoenix, AZ, at the age of 13, where he made it his home and raised three children. Walter was a devoted father who loved Nascar, fishing, boating, the beach, traveling when he could, and anything outdoors and was known for his kindness, dedication, and hard-working ethics. He was surely one of a kind, set the bar high, led by example, gave endless support, loved unconditionally, had a great sense of humor, and was sharp-witted, but above all else, he worked so hard for everything in his life to give his kids the best life. His love was evident, and there was never any room for doubt.
He is survived by his children, Jayson Francis and Brittney (Jonny) Couture, and grandchildren, Landon and Axston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Mary Francis; son Charles Francis; and many other family members and friends that have gone before him.
Prior to his retirement, he was a man of many talents; he ran his own neon sign business in his earlier days, but an electrician took the title of more than 40+ years, where there was not a single thing he could not do or fix. He was hardworking and was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his work was a reflection of his dedication and precision.
Walter's presence brought warmth, laughter, love and strength to those around him. His absence leaves an immeasurable void and he will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be carried on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A celebration of life will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018, on Sunday, May 17th, at 2pm with a reception there to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Hospice of the Valley in Walter's memory.
