Wilmar “Bill” Prinsen passed away peacefully in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 24, 2026, at the age of 83. Bill was born on March 6, 1943, in Chandler, Minnesota, to John and Barbara Prinsen. He carried his Midwestern roots with him throughout his life, grounding him in a deep appreciation for family and hard work.
Much of Bill’s adult life was spent in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with his beloved partner, James. Together, they built a life of 46 years filled with companionship, shared routines, and deep care for one another. In 2012, they embraced a new chapter, making Phoenix their home. There, Bill became an active and beloved member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he volunteered his time and formed meaningful connections within the community.
Bill spent his entire career in banking, where he was known for his reliability and steady presence. Outside of work, he found happiness in tending to his garden, working on crossword puzzles, and gathering around the table for games and cards. He especially cherished time spent with his family, friends, and dogs. And in true Midwestern fashion, he never turned down a well-made Brandy Manhattan—preferably enjoyed in good company and with plenty of laughter. Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is lovingly remembered by his partner, James Wagner; his step-sons, Jim (Stephanie) and Andy (Pui); his sister, Donna (Harvey); his nieces and nephews, Rod (Val), Brenda (Pete), Deb (Jeff), and Doug (Cindy); and great-nieces, great-nephews, and many extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Bill’s family and friends carry his memory with love and gratitude.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Building Fund.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 8th at 10:00 A.M. PT.
It will be live-streamed on YouTube.
