PATCHETT, JOHN P.

December 23, 2021 9 Condolences

John Patchett 2

John P. Patchett peacefully passed away in his sleep on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the age of 81, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona after a long and courageous battle with cancer. John was surrounded by family when he took his last breath and returned home to God.
John was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 10, 1940, and attended high school and undergraduate school at Our Lady Queen of The Angels Seminary, in San Fernando Valley, California, and then went on to attend ASU where he obtained a master’s degree in history. John enjoyed a long and successful career working as a realtor and broker at Patchett Realty until he retired in 2003.
John was a devout Catholic who dedicated himself to serving God and those around him, especially his family and friends. John was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. John cherished his family and instilled in his children and grandchildren, a sense of pride in nurturing family bonds and in honoring and building on family traditions. John looked forward to weekly family dinners with his children, their spouses, and his grandkids, and loved celebrating the holidays, birthdays and other special occasions with his siblings and large extended family.
John adored his grandchildren and took great care to teach them how to be patient, kind, and loving. John was best known for opening his heart to everyone he met and was always willing to help anyone in need, whether they be family, friends, or even complete strangers. John always had a smile on his face and could always be counted on to greet everyone he knew by their first name. John genuinely enjoyed getting to know the personal stories of almost everyone he met and will be lovingly remembered for always being jovial, friendly, and kind.
One of John’s favorite sayings was a quote from Father Pio, “Pray, Wait, Don’t Worry”. John was the best listener, and always the first to offer kind and supportive words of encouragement and ‘nuggets’ of wisdom.
John was predeceased by his mother and father, Maria and Frank Patchett, his wife, Connie Patchett and his daughter, Regina Patchett. John is survived by his siblings, Ann Wagner, George Patchett, and MaryJean McBride; his children, Stephanie Ireland and J.P. Patchett; his seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews (way too many to count!).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm with a Vigil service at 6:00pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, in Phoenix. The vigil service will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/WhitneyMurphyFH/live/. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00am, with eulogies beginning at 9:45am at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix. John and I worked together in the 1970s at the Glendale Social Security Office. John was always kind, helpful and he had a great sense of humor. I know he loved his family very much because he always spoke highly of all you. I am sorry to hear of his passing and my prayers are with you. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4

Cousin John and his family were special memories from my young days. Visits to Uncle Franks and Aunt Marie’s house was always a fun time, and John always made it welcoming! Over these many years we lost touch, but less than two years ago, John remembered me, with a telephone call, where we relived many family memories!
John was a special cousin and a generous and giving soul, and He will be missed as the bright light he shared with so many.
Go in peace, dear cousin Love, (Uncle Sam’s daughter), Marlene

My sympathy and prayers go out to John’s family. Although it had been many years since I saw him, I’ve never forgotten what a good friend he was during our days at ASU and working part time at Sears. John always had a smile on his face and interesting conversation to share. He is missed.

    Dear Friend JP,

While the loss of a loved one is never easy, even when anticipated, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from us too soon.

Your recent loss of your dad, who has left us, is definitely in the category of those hard losses for which there is so painful a reminder of what might have been.

I know you will surely miss the presence of a truly lovable and kind dad. But A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts, through us, they live on.

May God put him in a special place where he will be watching us, the people who loved and cherished him!

I offer my sincere condolence and deepest sympathy on your loss. May the, outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and the comfort in knowing that your loss is felt by many, help you through this difficult time

Prayers for you and your family that, May the, love and mercy of GOD be bestowed upon you and your family during this difficult time.

I ask for God’s blessings on you and your wonderful family. May, you find the courage and strength to move forward in peace and confidence and in knowing that his was a life well-lived

    Yours in Peace,
    Ashish Modi

    JP and Jeanie,
I am so sorry for your loss but I wish you great comfort knowing he is now with our Heavenly father at peace with our Lord. I always enjoyed hearing him as lector and both of you were such loving advocates in bringing him to mass every Sunday as a family. You both are a true testament of Gods will and should be proud of the kindness and support you gave your father. He was a good and faithful servant and he will be rewarded in Heaven. We are honored to have known him and are here for you. God bless, Christina, Brandon & family
