Patricia Beggs nee’ von Wulf, born in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming on March 19, 1920, died peacefully at the age of 87. Pat graduated from Pine Bluffs High School and was on the Girls’ Roll of Honor, 1938 for her “outstanding performance, sportsmanship, and fine team spirit in upholding basket ball court honors.” Pat graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in May of 1941 and enlisted in the Army. Pat was a 2nd Lieutenant Nurse in the U.S. Army during WWII and it was there that she met her future husband Fred Beggs. Patricia was a longtime Phoenix resident. She was Assistant Director of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, retiring in 1984. Pat was able to travel extensively, visiting Japan, Switzerland, Ireland, the Philippines, and many US states. Patricia went to the Philippines to recruit nurses for St. Joseph’s Hospital. For Pat’s 87th birthday, at least a dozen of the Philippine nurses Pat had recruited threw her a surprise party and reunion. Pat had settled into retirement living with her daughter Beth and enjoying time with her grandchildren. For the last three years Pat has been kindly cared for at the Beatitudes. Pat has four surviving children, Fred Beggs, Theresa Vazquez, Ruth Combs and Beth O’Brien. Pat is also survived by 6 loving grandchildren and 7great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren remember rides in her Mustang, trips to Graham’s fruit stand for date milkshakes and her soft hands. Pat’s memorial will be held at the Beatitudes Campus of Care, 1668 West Glendale Ave, Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.
