
Edward Michael Pedraza, Sr. “Big Mike”, born May 9, 1958 entered into rest February 14, 2020. He was a beloved husband, father, Tata, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward C. and Nancy R. Pedraza, his Nana Josie Abillar, his mother-in-law Florinda Baldonado, brother-in-law Michael C. Valley, nephews Kevin and Brandon Nichols, niece Esperanza Nichols-Duran. Mike is survived by his wife Cecilia, his children Michael, Jr. (Lupita), Elizabeth Pedraza-Gomez (Miguel), Erica Paris (Leroy), Erin Garay (Julio), Estefan (Marissa Garza), and Emilio, thirteen grandchildren: Miguelito, Joaquin, Damian, Eddie & Marcos, Julio Michael, Nehemiah, Sofia, Giovanni, Elijah, Aryannah, Cortez and Isaiah, his siblings Cynthia Piercy (Scott), Russell (Louisa), Paula and Bobbie Valley. Mike attended Sullivan Elementary School and Carl Hayden High School, class of 76’. He played baseball throughout elementary and high school. Mike worked as a loader for Arizona Refining, Cal-Western, A semi-truck driver for ABZ Rentals, Mason Mart and Lehigh, out of California, before becoming permanently disabled with one of his many ailments. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and in fact from a young age he and several friends including his dad and brother would go deer and elk hunting. A tradition which he later passed down to his sons and grandsons. Mike was a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers. His spirit and legacy will live on through his family. Mike will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., with a Rosary Prayer starting at 7:00 P.M. at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85015. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Gregory‘s Catholic Church. Internment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix, AZ 85008.

Mike and I were childhood friends. I remember him being very kind and being really good in sports. During recess you could always find him on the basketball court shooting hoops.He had an amazing hook shot.He would always bring an extra glove when we played baseball in case someone did not have one.
