Gerald W. “Dink” Read, 77, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on October 3, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Phoenix, AZ on October 27, 1934 to the late Charles J. and Vivette (Wilson) Read. He is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia A. Greer, and his brother, Charles J. Read. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of The Art Center in Los Angeles, CA. All of his working life was spent as a motion picture cinematographer in Phoenix and Los Angeles. During his time in the film industry, “Dink” worked on numerous films, commercials and industrial videos and was a mentor and friend to everyone he worked with. He was an avid sports fan and loved his children, his dog Jeffe and Mexican food and opera. He is survived by his daughter, Gina L. Read, of Phoenix and son, Darin E. Read, of Los Angeles. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 27, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Defenders of Wildlife, Hospice of the Valley or the ASPCA.
