William Joseph Reckling III, 71, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on June 12, 2022. Bill was born in Houston, Texas, in May of 1951. He attended high school at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix. He earned an undergraduate degree in history at the University of Notre Dame and then began a Ph.D. program in medieval history at UC San Diego. He then graduated at the top of his class at the University of Cincinnati Law School. His learning never stopped, as demonstrated by his mastery of Spanish and 4 other languages. He went on to practice law in Arizona for many years.
Throughout his life, Bill loved the outdoors and traveled the world, resulting in some wild adventures. His love of history and family was evident in his genealogical research, which included documenting an extensive family tree.
He is survived by his siblings, Chris Reckling, Claire Schauer, Michael Reckling, and Mark Reckling, and his four children, William J Reckling IV, Leah Ruberg, Jonathan Reckling, and Alexandra Moore, as well as his 6 grandchildren. His family will celebrate his life with a private memorial service.
