RHODES, LUCIENNE MARIE-THERESE (RICAUT)
85, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away quietly in her sleep, at her home, on January 5th. Born in Algiers, North Africa on April 30th, 1927 she moved to Oklahoma in 1946 after marrying Marvin Rhodes, who was in the US Army (stationed in Algiers) in WWII. She devoted her life to her family and had a deep faith in God. She resided in Phoenix and worked for over 20 years for Rhodes Department Store and Dillards. She was an excellent baker (providing an amazing cake for every birthday and of course her rolls she was infamous for), a superb seamstress, and was extremely talented at knitting and crocheting. “Mom”, also lovingly known as “Menou” to all, will be deeply missed by: her sister, Renee, her children, Helen (deceased), Pat and Elizabeth and grandchildren, Shawn, Stephanie, Scott, Maria, Jacqueline, Daniel, and Pamela as well as her 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9-10am, Saturday, with a Funeral Service at 10am, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery.
I would like to express my deepest condolences to your family. I hope you find comfort from God’s word the bible during this time of grief. For he is near to those broken at heart. Ps 34:17,18 Also, note Jesus’ words of comfort spoken to Martha, who had just lost her brother, at John 11:23-25, “Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise. Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.”
I just learned of this and was deeply saddened. Lucienne and I worked for many years together at first Joske’s, then Dillard’s at Metrocenter. She was at my wedding and was a good and true friend.
God Rest Her Precious Soul.
