RIDEAU, JACQUELIN SCOTT

July 3, 2022 2 Condolences

Jacqueline Rideau

Jacquelin Scott Rideau, age 97, went home to be with the angels on Tuesday, May 31 , 2022. Jackie was born on August 19, 1924, on the South side of Chicago, IL.

She graduated from Provident Hospital & and Training School for nursing before moving to Phoenix in 1946, where she met and married her late husband Burleigh A. Rideau, Jr.  Jackie had a lengthy career in nursing and was the person everyone went to for their ailments as she was always ready to assist or give advice.

She loved reading, music, watching college football and traveling with her late husband. Her lifelong devotion to the Catholic church led her to being involved in the creation of the Office of Black Catholic Ministry of Phoenix. Jackie was a member of Beta Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the Royalettes Club. She is survived by her four children Michael, LeiAnn, Steven and David; along with her brother Ben; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Jackie was loved and is missed by countless relatives and friends.

A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Basilica located at 231 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004.  A live stream will be available via:  https://m.facebook.com/SMBasilica

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Diocese of Phoenix – Black Catholic Community, Attn: Ignacio Rodriguez 400 E. Monroe Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004
