Robert “Bob” Dennis passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2008. He was born April 15, 1925 in Caldwell, Ohio. He was raised in Zanesville, Ohio with his two beloved brothers, Sam and Ben. He served proudly in the Army as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He served his country as a young man and was in a foxhole at the Battle of the Bulge for six weeks in 1944. He was involved in D-Day Two and assisted in taking over at Goering’s Eagle Nest at the end of WWII. He moved to Arizona with his wife Maxine in 1953 and joined his brother T.D. Dennis’s Sam construction company. Bob and Maxine had three children, Larry, Debbie and Cheryl who all reside in Phoenix. He remarried in 1984 to his wife Kay. Robert was an insurance agent and consultant in Phoenix from 1956 to 2001. He belonged to the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose, the Insurance Consultant Society and the Independent Insurance Agents of Arizona, where he served as President in 1979. He also served as President of the Maricopa County Insurance Association and as President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Phoenix. He served on the National Board of the Independent Insurance Association as Membership Chairman. He was an avid golfer playing at Camelback Country Club and a member of the Mountain Shadows Golf Club, thanks to Roger Maxwell. He was an active member of the M.O.B., the Saturday morning golf group. He loved all sports and was a longstanding Dallas Cowboys fan. He leaves behind his children, Patrick from his first marriage, Larry Myra, Debbie and Cheryl Mark and his five grandchildren Darrin, Lindsey, Ashley, Courtney, Jessica, and two great-grandchildren, Coleya and Brett, and his three step-children Brad Berdoy Lesa, Cathy Jordan Terry, Susie Meyers Dan and seven step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a multitude of friends. He will be buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in north Phoenix. He will be missed by all who knew him, but most especially by his loving family. Visitation will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
