
Doctor Roch P. Coll, born February 26, 1949, died July 8, 2009. Today we mourn the passing of a very special man. Roch Patrick Coll was born in Cookstown, Northern Ireland on February 26, 1949 to Patrick and Annie Coll. He was the third of six children. Roch left for boarding school at age eleven, entered medical school at age eighteen and graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1974. He spent the next year as a Pathologist in Minneapolis but missed the contact with patients and returned to Dublin to practice Internal Medicine at Baggot St. Hospital. He took and passed the Boards in l979 to become a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. On September 9th, 1980 he married Barbara Mullen and they moved to America making Phoenix their home for the past 29 years. They have two children, Sean and Abigail, who were his pride and joy. Roch was passionate about many things: golf, reading, music, gardening. His greatest passions, however, were his family and his work. He was kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Roch was loved and respected by his colleagues, patients, friends and family. Roch passed peacefully while holding the hand of his beloved wife on July 8th, 2009. He is survived by his wife and children, his mother Annie, and his brothers John, Patrick and Tony as well as their wonderful families. He will be sadly missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers or cards, contributions may be made in his name to The Loreto Sisters Retirement Fund.
