ROMERO, ARTURO S

February 22, 2013 2 Condolences

ROMERO,

85, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2013. Born in Hayden, Arizona to Jose Romero and Carmen Sierras Romero. He is reunited with his parents and brothers Ramon, Felizardo, Ignacio and Jose. He will be missed and affectionately remembered by his beloved wife of sixty years, Rafaela, and five children, Stella (Fred Ollarsaba), Norma, Margie (Steve Wolf), Arthur (Argelia Romero) and Terri (Steve Patton) and grandchildren Vanessa, Richard, Steve, Rachel, Andrea, Sara, Alejandrina, Marcos, Carlos, Nick, Victoria and Krissy; and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Armando and sisters, Irene, Maggie, Carol and Carmen. He is best known for his dedication and commitment to his family, friends, church and community which included his prestigious award of the St. George Award of outstanding service to the spiritual development of Catholic Youth in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed camping, fishing, photography and traveling with his wife to explore Scandinavia, Canada, Mexico, Europe and most states in the U.S. He worked at Cudahy Bar-S for 32 years before retiring to an enjoyable second career in real estate. He is gone now but leaves a legacy of family and traditions that will last generations. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Monday, February 25, 2013 at St Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, AZ.  Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
