
85, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2013 – her 85th birthday. Rafaela was born in Glendale, AZ to Alberto and Herlinda Moreno on September 5, 1928. Rafaela is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 60 years, Arturo S. Romero, her parents, and siblings, Sister Mary Naomi and Joe. Rafaela is survived by her brother Phil; daughters Stella Ollarsaba (Fred), Norma Romero, Margie Wolf (Steve), Terri Patton (Steve), and son Arthur (Angel); grandchildren: Vanessa, Richard, Steve, Rachel, Andrea, Sara, Alejandrina, Marcos, Carlos, Nick, Tori and Krissy; great-grandchildren: Brionna, Brandon, Jadyn, Sariya, Jaxon, Amaya, Nizhoni, Alana, Gabriella and Derrek. Rafaela retired from the Roosevelt School District. Through the years she provided Mexican folk dance opportunities; volunteered for religious education and Guadalupanas at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Boys Scouts of America and Camp Fire Girls. Her interests included camping, traveling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, classic movies and being part of Silver Sneakers. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Basilica in Phoenix on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. David Paul, Phoenix Hospice of the Valley and Palliative Care Center for their support in her final days.
