Barbara Jane Ruguone has now joined the love of her life, her husband Joe, in heaven. Barb passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023 with her devoted and caring daughters Sandy Evans (Larry) and Debbie Cohen (Fred) by her side. Her beloved son Steve preceded her in death.
Barb’s roots go back to Chicago where she was born on November 16, 1939 to Jane and John Sweeney and where she met and married Joe. In 1972, Barb and Joe moved their young family to Arizona where Barb loved the desert climate and thrived in raising her family and working as a systems designer for Honeywell Bull. She cherished the wonderful times that she and Joe spent driving the Apache Trail and camping and fishing at
Apache Lake.
Barb’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by her adoring grandchildren, Tony Evans (Crystal), Danny Evans (Audrey), Jenn Calhoun (Jared), Stephany Cohen, Kasey Cohen, Haley Haynes, Andy Ruguone (Reanna), and Leah Mendoza
(Sean); 11 great-grandchildren; sister (and goddaughter) Catherine Sweeney (Randy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her intelligence, wit, wisdom, and perseverance through challenging times will be a lasting inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
