Diercks, Hecker Ryan.
The lights of heaven shine much brighter today because our beloved son, brother and friend, Ryan, is there. Ryan will be missed for his thoughtfulness, generous heart, quick wit, clever intelligence and compassion. He will be remembered for his charismatic presence, uncompromising commitment to his faith, and for his rich creativity. He leaves behind many loyal friends, the everlasting affection of his family and a legacy of love, purpose and deep devotion to God. Ryan grew up in Tucson and has resided in Phoenix for the past seven years. Ryan’s greatest passion was helping others. He took immense joy in mentoring the youth group at Christ Church of the Ascension and starting a business called LovingGiving.com dedicated to the facilitation of philanthropic giving. He is survived by his parents Lawrence and Julie Hecker; his sisters Shauna Woodward and Jennifer Hecker Duval, his brother Alexander Hecker and his beloved dogs Chief and Max. The brilliant light of our memory of him on earth will sustain our hearts forever. Ryan’s life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 12:00 pm at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln, Paradise Valley, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Ryan’s memory to Journey to Adulthood program at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln, Paradise Valley, Arizona 85253. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.

I was Ryan’s good friend at Opelousas Catholic. He would come over to my home and have dinner with my family and we would be the guys cracking jokes in class. I saw him a couple of times after I left for college and the last time I saw him we took a road trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras with John Toups. I don’t know how I allowed Ryan to slip out of contact with me but my heart hurts because I just found out he passed away. I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I wish I could have met all of you as Ryan was a special person to me. I send my deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. I miss you buddy. May God keep you in his arms.
