SALCIDO, ERSENIA “ERSIE”

May 26, 2022 4 Condolences

Ersie 1955

Ersenia “Ersie” Salcido passed away at age 83 on May 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Ersie was born on November 17, 1938 in Phoenix, Arizona to Gus and Vera Enriquez. She had two younger brothers Albert and Gustavo.

A lifetime resident of Arizona, Ersie graduated Phoenix Union High in 1956 and worked for Valley National Bank (now JP Morgan Chase Bank).

On May 4, 1957, Ersie married her high school sweetheart Pete Salcido at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Phoenix.

Pete and Ersie had four sons: Michael, Kevin (Antonia), Andrew, and Paul (Thuy). They had seven grandchildren: Lenny (d. 1986), Alexander, Adriana, Alana, Lindsay, Danielle, and Haley.

When Ersie was in first grade, she met Josefina Gomez, who remained a loyal friend until the day Ersie died.

Ersie loved reading, travelling, going to the movies, bowling, and especially bingo. She maintained and passed on the tradition of homemade tamales at Christmas and hosting spontaneous family gatherings.

Ersie is preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Lenny (3 years old). She survived by her husband Pete, her sons, and remaining grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11:00 am, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85018.

Ersie’s family is grateful for the excellent care she received while in memory care and under hospice care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Diocese of Phoenix (602.266.GIVE).

Ersie was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family.
