Ruben Saldana

Ruben Saldana, 64, of Phoenix Arizona, went home to be with Jesus on September 20th 2022.  Mr. Saldana was born September 28th, 1957 in Coahuila, Mexico, to Luis Saldana and Mariana Rincon.

Ruben is survived by his wife Rosa Saldana, his children; Rosa Mata, Adriana Gomez, Ruben Saldana Jr., Roger Saldana, Gabby Lopez, and Louie Saldana. He had 16 grandchildren who he loved very much and 1 great-grandchild.

He was married to Rosa Isela Saldana for 46 years, was a high school graduate and attended night school in order to learn English. Ruben was a family man and he was proud to be able to support his family in his career as an aerospace machine operator. He is remembered by his family as being a hard worker who never quit and enjoyed throwing parties and loved to dance and just spending time with his family who he loved dearly.

At the age of 19 Ruben joined a rock band with his brothers where he played as the bassist for five years. He enjoyed all types of music genres but above all he loved Rock and Roll and would often say “Puro Rock N Roll”.

He was an active man who loved to work out and play sports. He enjoyed watching soccer games and listening to music, all at full blast. He was fearless when driving and loved fast cars and even rode a motorcycle.

He was a stubborn man, but also very supportive and free spirited. He was known as the black sheep of the family and was even the first of his siblings to get tattooed. He loved the Dodgers, the Lakers, the Cowboys and the soccer team Club America. You could say he was a rebel through and through.

His children recall fond memories of growing up, when their dad would take them to Mexico in their family suburban and their uncle in his van. They had CB radios so they can communicate to one another, since back then there were no cell phones. They recall how much fun they had on those trips and how their dad and uncle had nicknames for each other, Ruben being RR and their uncle being chocolate.

In his later years he loved working on cars, even though he shouldn’t have, starting new home projects when he shouldn’t have, going shopping when he shouldn’t have and ultimately passing away sooner than he should have. He will be joining his parents Mariana and Luis in heaven, where there is no more pain, no more suffering, where he can do all those things he always loved to do, in a new heavenly body.

He leaves behind a legacy of being a hard worker, always putting family first and doing whatever it took to make sure his family was taken care of and had what they needed. His legacy will continue to live on in the loved ones he leaves behind, as they remember to work hard in all that they do, to dance a little more, laugh a little more, love a little more, and listen to rock and roll a little more.

Please join us in celebrating his life and memory. On Friday, September 30, 2022, there will be a viewing held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix. Viewing will commence at 1pm, and a short service will follow by Pastor Kenny at 3pm. All are invited to the reception from 5pm-7pm at Eastridge Apartments 1522 E Southern Avenue, Tempe AZ 85282.
