
Nona Loraine (Mazurek) Schultz passed away peacefully January 29, 2022, in her Phoenix, Arizona home with husband Arvin, and their children by her side.
Nonie was born June 8, 1934, at St. Anthony de Padua hospital in Chicago, IL. She lived the first seven years of her life in Oak Park, IL. In 1941, the Mazurek family relocated to suburban Elmhurst where Nonie graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic high school. She continued her education at Webster College in Webster Grove, Missouri, a suburb of St Louis, graduating in 1956. Nonie returned to Elmhurst and taught third grade in Addison for the next six years.
While teaching in Addison, Nonie met Arvin Schultz, a Village of Addison police officer. After a long courtship they were married June 16, 1962, and shortly thereafter the newlyweds moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Nonie taught elementary school for one year.
Milton J. Mazurek, Nonie’s father and Loraine Cassin Mazurek, her mother preceded Nonie in death.
Nonie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend! She is survived by Arvin, her devoted husband of 59 1/2 years, three daughters: Kathleen Ann, Nancy Jean (Derek), and Amy Therese (Steve), and one son, Andrew Patrick (Sydney). Additional survivors include six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and sisters Joan, and Geraldine.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass for Nonie is at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2312 E. Campbell Avenue, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul and Americare Hospice of Mesa, AZ.

We feel blessed to have known Nonie and shared time with her and her devoted husband, Arv. We count them as treasured friends. Nonie fought a long and hard battle but her pain is gone now and she’s in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Nonie was such a wonderful lady! She was a patient of mine my years ago when I worked for a doctor in Tempe. Even though it has been more than 30 years ago I still have fond, loving memories of her. May she Rest In Peace from a life well lived. My sincere condolences to her family in their loss.
