STAGGS, MYRTLE IRENE

She departed from this earth peacefully on May 19th, 2015 into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Irene, as she liked to be called, was 98 years young and lived a full life. She was always on the go keeping busy. She suffered a lot of heartache in her lifetime. The loss of her mother following the loss of her oldest grandson Steve, killed by a drunk driver at age 23. Six months later the death of her father, all within a course of a year. Being a grandma and great grandma to 20 grandchildren kept her on the go. She was a great cook and loved entertaining, especially during the holidays! Playing hymns and carols on her piano brought great joy to all of us. In February 2008 her beloved husband, Forrest passed away suddenly and another blow 3 months later, her only child Sharon Lee passed away. Somehow she kept going leaning on her faith one day at a time. She had many wonderful neighbors who were there for her in extraordinary ways showing her kindness. Our family is very grateful to all of them! She leaves behind one grandson, Richard Skalniak, one granddaughter, Cindi Hendricks, along with 10 more beautiful great-grandchildren and 7 great, great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 4:30 PM with a Funeral Service at 4:30 PM, Tuesday, June 9^th, 2015 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ. Graveside Service will be on Wednesday, June 10^th, 2015 at 1:30 PM at West Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ.
