STEER, DAPHNE MARY
Daphne Mary Steer, 81 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on December 8, 2021. She was born in Lahore, Pakistan on June 5, 1940 to her mother Kathleen. There she was born into and attended St. Deny’s Boarding School. The school was operated by Christian English missionaries, who took her mother in when she became pregnant and eventually continued in over seeing Daphne’s care. Due to Daphne’s Christian upbringing, she always stayed faithful to the Lord. Throughout her life she never failed to wear her faith on her sleeve. She showed this through her love for volunteering, donations, reading Christian novels, and by attending Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix. Daphne was very proud of her large collection of Christian books that she kept. Along with her love for her devout faith, she loved her family, animals (especially her mini dachshunds), and traveling. She has been to more countries than most and was especially proud of the missionary work she had the opportunity to do in China twice. Daphne met her one true love, Gary, in 1960 when he was working in Pakistan. When his work contract was over, he returned to the United States with her and they got married in 1962. Daphne and Gary spent almost 50 years of marriage together. The best gift she received from it was her only daughter Stephanie, and only granddaughter Emily whom she loved with her whole heart. She also accepted her son in law Carlos, as her own son. Her friends and family were precious to her, she sent 100 + Christmas cards to them all each year. Her friendships were lifelong and she kept kept her relationships with her boarding school friends her entire life. Daphne was a unique light in this world that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Daphne is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Carlos) Ramirez, and her granddaughter Emily Ramirez.

Jesus is our joy, our hope and our strength and our
God and our Shepherd in all circumstances of life.
I think of Daphne often and her
encouraging words and prayer and her gratitude to God, for her family and friends. and all who knew and loved her.
I’ve known Daphne for many years from Bethel Bible Church. Her husband Gary worked at shuff steel with my dad and husband. Daphne was easy talk to and she enjoyed meeting people. I continued to see her every Sunday at Bethany Bible Church. It was good to see her and she always had kind words to say. I know she was so
Happy to be a grandma. She was so proud of her family. I am so blessed to have known her all these years. She is missed! But Im happy she is in her forever home with Jesus.
My dearest friend and sister, Daphne, we’ll miss you, dear little sis, as I called you. We met in Lahore in 1946, Oh, such a long time back, but your lovely face will remain a vivid memory in my mind. Then when you visited me, here in Italy, it was a boon to be with you again. All those years together in St: Deny’s were beautiful years. We shared so much. Perhaps few people knew you as well as I did.
And now to you, Stephanie, and family, I offer my heartfelt condolence.
May Daphne’s soul rest in peace.
Hugs,
Lilian
It’s hard to hear that Daphne is gone. She had a big heart and a concern for other people and animals. When my family brought home a stray dog from Beattitudes where my grandmother was staying, Daphne saw it and took it (with our OK, of course) as her own. The dog, Lucy, went with Daphne on the latter’s walks until Lucy’s passing about a year ago. I will also remember the bagells Daphne used to get for us. Daphne, may you rest in peace and your memory ultimately be a glad one for your family as it was to us.
A Great loss indeed, not only for the family & friends abroad but also for her School’s Alumni members.
My grief has further extended for not being able to contact her and listen the very old stories of the school that got burnt in 2009.
Daphne was such a gem that has even taken her roots from that great School of hers, St. Denys’ in Murree Pakistan, being born there, raised over there and then excelled to the highest rank in School to become The Head Girl in 1956.
There must have been so much that she must have wanted to share.
I hope we could have someone to narrate her narrated stories, for nothing is lost as far as we live to keep someone Dear.
Stay safe and keep praying.
