Stella passed away on Saturday morning November 8th at Phoenix Mountain Nursing Home in Phoenix, Arizona. Her death was the result of a fifteen year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was eighty-five years old. She is survived by her ex-husband Roland, her sons William, Robert, Douglas and Michael and her grandchildren Melissa, Christopher and Matthew. Our mother was born on August 14, 1923 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. During her life she was a teacher, a nurse, civil rights activist and served her country as a federal employee with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. But most importantly, she was beloved mother and our best friend. Stella never met a stranger, had a laugh that was absolutely contagious and a smile that lit up every room she ever entered in her lifetime. Her approach to life was simple, and her love of God was unshakeable. We love you Mom and may you forever rest in peace in the arms of your Savior Jesus Christ. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Wednesday, November 12, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00am, Thursday, November 13, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 6261 North Granite Reef Road, Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic High School, 2525 North 3rd Avenue, Phoenix.
