In Memorial

Born on April 8, 1963 in Milwaukee, WI, and died on June 5, 2010 inPhoenix, AZ. He will be remembered for many things. Chris was lucky from winning jackpots in Las Vegas to winning Suns season tickets by sinking three consecutive full-court shots, he seemed to always have things go his way. He loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers and AZ Diamondbacks, playing golf, spending time with his nephews and listening to good music. His many gifts to this world include his razor-sharp and lightening-quick wit, his ability to make an incredible cheesecake, and his ability to make anyone laugh at any time. He was a gifted athlete; every sport he attempted came naturally to him and he still holds most of the quarterback records he set in 1980 at St. Francis High School in WI. Chris was fluent in Spanish and he made a career out of supporting people with developmental disabilities. He was liked by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna Behling and his father Gary TeKampe. He is survived by his sister Terri TeKampe (Jerry Rhem), his brothers Steven TeKampe and Peter TeKampe (Erica) and his nephews Henry and Jacob TeKampe, all of Phoenix; his best friend, Matt Olsen, of Milwaukee, WI; and many cousins and friends who will all miss him. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 12 at his sister’s home from 10a to Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Desert Southwest Chapter, www.jdrfdsw.org.

My deepest sympathies to Peter, Terri and Steve. I found out about Chris when I was searching for him on FB. He was a dear friend during my childhood and we won some basketball trophies together at St. Paul’s Cudahy. He was such a talented person and I’ll always have great memories of him. All my best.

Chris Tekampe – was my “Batman” when I worked for RISE – nevermind what I needed -I could use the Bat signal and Chris would come , call, or email from Az- He taught me how to facillitate Essential Lifestyle planning, put together shelves, did direct care when all my staff quit-I am sad but also not surprised that God called him home -he often calls those beloved by him first.
