
Thomas “Tom” J. Lane, passed away after a brief illness on February 10th, 2009. Tom was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 4, 1926 to Cecilia and Thomas M. Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Tom was a long time resident of Phoenix and after serving in the Merchant Marines during World War II, he followed his true love Margy to Arizona in l947. He worked 35 years in the material handling industry for both Clark and Yale and was a charter member of SS Simon and Jude Parish. During his lifetime, he and Margy, had the opportunity to travel extensively to Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. He loved western movies, wine and lively conversation. He will always be remembered and loved for his quick and honest humor. Tom is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 61 years, Margy, children Mary Baird Wayne, Suzy Schwinger, David Lane Evelyn, grandchildren; Andy Hutchison Emily, Jeni Lane, Christy Ramirez, Thomas D. Lane Victoria, great-grandchildren; Alex, Christian, Logan and Van. We wish to thank the ER and ICU nurses and doctors at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center for their care and kindness. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, February 15th, with a Rosary at 4:00 pm, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 16th, 10:00 am, at SS. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Avenue. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
