Ty Garrett Thomasson

Ty Garrett Thomasson, 30, of Scottsdale passed away tragically on Sunday, February 5th, 2012. Ty was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital on January 12th, 1982 to the sound of crackling thunder. From that moment on he lived his life with zest. He was a little boy full of life, laughter and constant action. There was never a person that he came in contact with that could not fall in love with his contagious laughter and smile. He attended St Thomas and started his love for football and sports. Playing with the Bull Dogs Pop Warner football team started his path on his long lasting friendships and the love of football not to mention bull dogs. He attended Chaparral High School and it was there where he helped to lead his football team to two consecutive State Championships, an accomplishment he was proud to share. Ty was the constant organizer for family and friends, planning events and making sure that all attended and had the best time ever. Family and cousins met weekly and Ty was always going down memory lane adding his infectious sense of humor. He loved Arizona and was delighted when he had the opportunity to continue his football career at Arizona State as a long snapper. In the thirty short years he was here, Ty lived his life to the fullest and made a lasting impression upon anyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Ty was adventurous and loved doing anything that put him outdoors. Learning to fly fish in Colorado lead to his love for deep sea fishing, and he could not get enough. From Mexico to British Colombia, Costa Rica to the Caribbean the journey started…Planning excursion with his friends and family was always on Ty’s list. Leaning to ski at an early age gave him a joy for winter sports. If there was snow, Ty was going. An avid snowboarder, creative storyteller, best friend, son, and brother he was. Loved, admired and cherished by friends and family alike…he was taken from us far too soon. Ty is survived by his mother, Maureen Kerley, father and stepmom Gary and Anna Thomasson, sisters Lana and Leah, brother-in-law Michael Spano and niece London. He is also survived by his dear cousins Darren, Stefanie, Robert and Halleigh Mougey, Madison Kerley and Matthew and Michelle Strutton, Aunts Linda Mougey and Gail Jones, Grandparent Robert Kerley and Uncle Bob Kerley and last but not least, his “son”…bulldog Prince. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at the Franciscan Renewal Center at 5802 East Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale. To say he will be missed is an understatement, our hearts are forever broken. We love you Ty.
