THOMPSON, HAROLD “TOM”

THOMPSON,

Harold “Tom” Thompson, 79, of Phoenix passed away peacefully on October 5, 2012 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 27, 1933 in Washington, D.C. and moved to Arizona in 1954. Married in 1954, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, uncle and grandfather. Tom worked for 34 years at AiResearch/Garrett/Allied-Signal. He was known for his kind and generous heart, and a contagious smile. Preceded in death by his wife Ann Marie “Boots” Thompson, father Harold A. Thompson Sr., stepfather Edward Sweeney, and son Tony, he is survived by his mother Louise Sweeney, daughters Jeanna Carlton (Harvey), Lisa Pratt (Alan), son Blaise Thompson (Cheryl), grandchildren Tara, Hannah, Paul “PJ”, Danny, Jake, Ryan, and companion Rebekah Ben Verlyn. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 9:00pm Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix. The Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00am Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
