Sharon McCarey Tobin born September 17, 1928 entered Heaven on February 10, 2012. The daughter of Grace and Raymond McCarey, a native Californian, Sharon was raised in Westwood, Beverly Hills and on the beaches of Santa Monica. She was loving, carefree, glamorous to the end and hysterically funny- especially when not trying. She came by this gift naturally, her father having been a director of comedy movies in the 1930’s and 40’s- winning two Academy Awards. His work included The Our Gang Comedies, The 3 Stooges ,Laurel and Hardy and The Little Rascals. She met the love of her life Benjamin Tobin as a young girl and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend- and she was really good at all these things.
Sharon experienced a deep religious enlightenment in her early 50’s- coming to know and love the Lord in a very personal way. She looked forward to seeing her Ben in Heaven and that happy reunion has now taken place. She leaves behind her beloved children: Ben (Kandra), Susan Wesley (Tim), Dede Courtenay (Jim), Tim (Stella) and her much loved grandchildren: BJ and Tarin Tobin, McKenna Wesley, Hannah and Delaney Courtenay and Anton Tobin. Special thanks to Joseph Bruner for his thoughtfulness shown during her final days. Our deepest sympathies in the loss of your loving mother and grandmother. I too know that pain. May it help you to know that the hearts of others are deeply touched by your loss. Although our hearts ache, we can find comfort in the God of all comfort whose is near to us with a broken heart.
(Psalms 34:18)

Ben, Susie, Dede and Tim, I LOVED your mother! She was exactly as you have described her: A woman of faith, laughter, devotion, and beauty! It is so hard to say goodbye, even when someone has lived a long and rich life. I pray God’s comfort for all of you. Much love and many happy memories of all of you, Becky

Dear Ben, Susie, Dede and Tim
Growing up as a young boy in Phoenix, there was a great comfort in spending time at the Tobin home. In large part it was the love, acceptance, and joy conveyed by Sharon that made that made me always feel welcome.
May God bring comfort and peace to you and your families
