Mae Tombazian

Mae Cecilia (Herro) Tombazian 96.5 years young, passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 24th, 2018. Mae’s ultra-positive attitude touched the lives of countless friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, students and befriended strangers. Due to her strong spiritual beliefs, she always found the best in people and experiences. Mae hailed from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served her country in the first Women’s Auxiliary Corps (WAC) during World War II from 1942-1945. Mae relocated to Southern California and met her husband Gregory Vahe Tombazian while they were celebrating their May 5th birthdays. They had two children Charles MIchael and Sheri Ann. Mae lost her beloved Gregory in 1972 and moved from the San Fernando Valley to Thousand Oaks where she served in the public school system as a teachers’ aid until her retirement. Mae relocated to Boulder, Colorado in 1994 and then to Phoenix, Arizona in 2013. Mae is survived by her son Charles (Scottsdale, AZ), Sheri (Broomfield, CO) her grandchildren, Alexandra, Roarke, Collin and Samantha and great-grandchildren Mason & Francesca. Thank you for sticking around these 96+ years, we all needed you. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. I lost contact with my dear friend Mae and something told me to look her up on the internet today. I am so sad that we lost connection with one another and I never thought about trying to find her on the internet all these years. I am so relieved she lived a full life to 96 . I was her neighbor in Thousand Oaks, CA, where we lived in the Wildwood area. I would always go over to her place and we had great conversations about her son and daughter and my two teenagers at the time. My children and I lived in Wildwood for 6 years; I was so happy when Mae befriended me and we had a great friendship. We moved away in 1990 but we stayed in contact with her; but the last time I spoke to her or sent a letter was when we had moved to CT in 1996. She said her eyesight was getting bad and she would have to have her daughter Sheri read letters. I started calling her because I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable since she couldn’t really write. She was such a blessing in my life and I learned so much from her and she helped me get through some tough times with my son. Mae was an amazing, fun, loving and honest person that I adored. May she R.I.P.
