TORREZ, EVANGELINE “VANGIE” ASPEITIA
Evangeline “Vangie” Aspeitia Torrez, 85, peacefully passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
The Arizona native was born in Centerville raised in Cottonwood. She graduated from Cottonwood High School.
In 1954, she married Reynaldo “Rey” Torrez and they lived in Cottonwood. A couple of years later they moved to Phoenix and bought their first and only family home.
Vangie was known for her decades-long exemplary work with Phoenix Elementary School District as a librarian (mainly) at Emerson School. She was a wonderful artist and several of her paintings decorate the family home.
She is survived by children Michael Ray, Kathy Rae (Miller) and son-in-law Todd Miller, Robert Louis, 10 grandchildren and extended family.
Vangie is preceded in death by her husband Rey and son Eddie. The beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, now rests with her high school sweetheart and husband of 63 years, Rey.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, December 10, 2021 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 400 N. 30th St., Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com.
