March 30, 2017 2 Condolences

VANDERWEY,

Angie Vanderwey, beloved and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017. Angie was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 18, 1936 to Nick and Rose DiPinto. She was the second child of three siblings: older brother, Larry and her dearest younger sister, Bina. In 1955, Angie’s family moved to Whittier, California. In 1965, Angie married John A. Vanderwey, her loving husband for 51 years.  Angie was the proud parent of her four boys: Nick, Larry, John and Michael. She was always involved in their lives. She volunteered as a homeroom mother, team mom, parish council board member, St. Thomas the Apostle Sodality Club participant, Brophy’s Mother’s Guild member, Christ Child Society of Phoenix member, numerous fundraising committees and so much more.  Angie so dearly loved her four daughters-in-law: Gina, Susie, Julie and Khristen. She was the proud grandmother (Beppe) to 12 wonderful grandchildren: Charlie, Angela, Jack, Allison, John, Ryan, Lina Rose, Lauren, Annie, Benny, Mary and Claire.  When Angie did not have her toes in the sand, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and family. She was an avid sports fan and a huge supporter at all of her grandchildren’s games.  Angie was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Rose and her brother, Larry.  There will be a visitation with a Rosary on Monday, April 3rd at 5:30pm to 7pm at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 4th at 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 4715 N. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ. The reception will follow Mass at the adjoining St. Francis Parish Hall until 2:00pm. There will be a vehicle procession to St. Francis Cemetery at 2:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in Angie’s name.
