VENN, CHARLES THEODORE

VENN,

Charles Theodore Venn passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on November 18, 2009. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Theodore Henry Venn (Inventor of the Venn-Severin Diesel Engine) and Mary Lichter Venn. Charlie was a graduate of Campion Jesuit High School, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and University of Illinois. After serving proudly in the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division, in Northern Italy, in 1945, as a Combat Infantryman, he earned the American Services Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart and the distinguished Bronze Star. Brother of the late Mary Ruth Venn, Charlie is survived by his children, Todd Venn and Tiffany Venn and three grandchildren, his sister Frances Adele Venn Hahne, nephews; Teddy Clarke, Michael Hahne, Terry Hahne, Daniel Hahne, and niece Susan Hahne McGroder , seventeen great nieces and nephews and cousin Jack Lichter. We salute all Veterans of Foreign Wars, especially Charlie’s friends and fellow heroes at the Arizona State Veterans Home. The family offers sincere thanks to all his devoted caregivers and volunteers at the Veterans Home and Hospice of the Valley. God be with you Uncle Charlie!
Funeral Mass will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 10:30am.
