VERDUGO, BARNEY C.

January 31, 2017 Leave A Condolence

VERDUGO,

On January 16th, 2017 a golden heart stopped beating.  With heavy hearts and tearful eyes, we said goodbye to our beloved Dad, husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  He is survived by his wife Alma Verdugo, two children; Lisa Verdugo and Christian Verdugo and preceded in death by his son Barney C. (Chapo) Verdugo, Jr., parents Mr. & Mrs. Jose and Teresa Verdugo and sister-in-law Amelia Ramon.  Two grandchildren Davina Leon and Serena Verdugo, two brothers; Jose C.  Verdugo, Jr. and George C. Verdugo, two sisters; Mary- Teresa C.V. Lopez and Betty C. Verdugo, also a host of nieces, and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, cousins, compadres and friends. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Decorations, Medals, Badges, Commendations, Citations and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized; National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle), Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal. Education and training completed, Basic Combat Training.  He worked for Allied Signal and retired from South Mountain High School in 2011.  Barney was a very loving man to everyone especially children.  He had a passion especially for music, belonged to a band and played the drums for several years.  He loved to dance.  He was always in good spirits.  Barney was a very caring and giving person. He had a calmness and peaceful aurora to his personality.  Barney enjoyed the simple things in life; family gatherings, good food, especially enchiladas, a simple cup of coffee and conversation.  He will be missed by many. May his soul rest in peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him. We love you Barney, but God loves you more.   RIP Barney Visitation will be from 8:00 – 10:00 AM with a Rosary at 9:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 S. Rural Road, Tempe. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix.
