
Richard Gonzalez Verdugo went home to heaven on June 9, 2018, peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in Phoenix, Arizona. Richard was born September 16, 1936 eldest of 14 children to loving parents Francisco and Rebecca Verdugo. Richard is survived by his wife Rosa of 46 years, his sons; Richard Verdugo Jr., Mike A. Lopez, Danny Redondo, his daughters; Mona Verdugo, Esther Palacios, Rosalinda Verdugo-Rivera, his brothers; Domingo Verdugo, Frank Verdugo, Elias Verdugo, his sisters; Becky Duenas, Clancy Martinez, Angie Luna, Estela Ortiz, 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Richard will be remembered for being humble, hardworking, and a true Patriot. We will miss his stories of his childhood, his funny but witty sayings and most of all; his strength. Goodbye beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road in Phoenix, with a Viewing from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., a Scripture Service starting at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street in Phoenix. A Celebration of Richard’s Life will follow after the services at American Legion Post 1 AZ.
