VILLA, MARIA MORA

June 1, 2021 Leave A Condolence

Maria Mora Villa 3

Maria Mora Villa born in Rio Florido, Chihuahua, Mexico to Miguel Mora Valdiviezo and Lucia Martinez, passed away peacefully at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, May 25, 2021, at the age of 95, comforted by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Married to Pedro Meza Villa (Deceased 2017) for 65 years, they produced and raised 7 children. During her life, she taught us many things, especially what we needed to value most: family, hard work, education, and commitment. Though always serious, and a person of action, she was filled with love and compassion, always had an open home, with food on the stove, treats on the table, music on the radio, and she had an infectious smile and laugh. At 4’10” tall she was strong, feisty, quick witted, and made of pure grit. She was an exceptional homemaker and seamstress; she would occasionally make clothes for herself and her family. Her talent extended into her passion, designing and making Mexican folklorico dresses. Besides her family, she had a great love for her animals, especially the Chihuahuas.

Momma (Nana), thank you for the lessons you taught us, especially for your Love and Strength. You’ll live in our hearts forever; we all love you so, so much.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Pedro. She is survived by her children Annette Chavez (Ray, deceased), David (Anna), Eddie (Cathy, deceased), Aldo (Lupita), Annabel Gonzalez (Fernando), Minerva (Stella), Bobby (Stefanie). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 5:00 -7:00PM with a Rosary held at 6:00PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road in Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Immaculate Heart Church, 909 East Washington Street in Phoenix. Interment to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

Condolences to the Villa family may you find comfort in the arms of Jesus. Your mother was a great example of what motherhood should be. I loved her and admired her since the day I met her. Thank you for sharing her with me.
