WALCOTT, MARIE BRENNAN

November 20, 2013 2 Condolences

WALCOTT,

87, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away to be with our Lord on November 18, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 10, 1926 to the late Harold and Cassie (Conlan) Brennan.  She graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School in Waterbury, Connecticut and was married in 1947 to Roger Walcott.  Marie loved life.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.   Her faith, family and friends were her life.  Marie cherished and embraced all it had to offer.  She was active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Mother’s Club in Harwinton , Connecticut, before moving with her family to Arizona in 1970 where she continued the adventure.  One of her most cherished trips was to Ireland where she was able to visit her grandparents’ homeland.  She loved the ocean and enjoyed several family vacations by the sea.  Being a part of her families and friend’s activities, adventures and accomplishments brought complete joy to her life.  She is survived by her adoring and devoted husband and best friend of 66 years, Roger Walcott; 6 children: Gwen Walcott (Carol), Rio Rancho, NM; John Walcott (Carol), Newtown, Connecticut; Barbara Flake (David), Mesa, Arizona; Ellen Page (Randolph), Los Osos, California; Susan Bull (Edwin), Phoenix, Arizona; Nancy Hebert (Greg), Chandler, Arizona  and “adopted” son  Arthur (Sonny) Szczesniak (Elaine), Chandler, Arizona; 15 grandchildren: Robert Walcott (Karen), Chris Walcott (Teressa), Catherine Walcott Wirth (Kevin Charles), Meghan Walcott Leonard (Jared), Jeffrey Walcott (Britt Whitelaw), Michael Flake, Caitlin Flake,  Shannon Flake, Alicia Bull Kirk (William), Amanda Bull,  Sarah Page Hicks (Jadon), Lauren Page (fiancé Garrett Kaida), Jennifer Hebert, Marie Hebert, Brian Hebert;  6 great-grandchildren: Hunter and Nicholas Keith, Victoria Walcott;  Donovan and Derek Walcott; Isabelle Wirth and  numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Cassie Brennan, brother John (Jack) Brennan, aunt Lillian Brennan, uncle Frank Conlan and several cousins.  Marie’s family would like to thank Scottsdale Heritage Court and Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and care. Visitation will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ on Thursday, November 21st from 6 – 8 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E. Campbell Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, on Friday, November 22nd at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.
