WEBER, JOHN HENRY

January 18, 2016 Leave A Condolence

In Memorial

Lifetime Valley resident, John H. Weber, 89, passed away December 5, 2015. John is survived by Joy Lee Weber, his wife of 43 years; sister Maryanna Foster (Jack) of Tucson; widowed sister-in-law Beth Kelly Weber (Arthur Lynn); 4 nephews and 1 niece; and many great nieces and nephews. A brother, Arthur Lynn Weber, 81, preceded John in death in 2009. John graduated 8th grade from Adams School, graduated Phoenix Union High School, class of 1943, plus one year of postgraduate studies. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1947, receiving an Honorable Discharge. After military service, John returned to his home in Phoenix. John attended Arizona State University, graduating with an honors degree in science. While attending ASU, John worked part time at several nurseries in the Phoenix area. After graduating from ASU, he worked as horticulturist at the Desert Botanical Gardens for 17 years and the Phoenix Zoo. John was an honorary life member of the Arizona Mineralogical Society and a life member of the Desert Botanical Gardens. John was a long time member and Elder of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3040 North 7th Avenue in Phoenix, where a Memorial Service is scheduled at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 28, 2016. Interment at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona will follow the church service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of John H. Weber be given to the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
