
Leopold, Yvonne B. Nikki R.N. – 3/27/1922 – 2/10/2009
Born in Saumur, France to Bryant Hatch Burns and Marte Lamy Burns. Schooled in Princeton, Winchendon and Gardner Mass, Nikki became a Registered Nurse at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Mass and later served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp during WWII, where she met her husband, Richard S. Leopold. Nikki and Dick were married for 62 years & together raised 4 children; Richard B. Janet of Scottsdale AZ, Laurence S. Mary of Prospect Park, PA, Marcie Beggs Gordon of Cleveland Heights, OH, and Jeanne Marie Leopold Jody of Tucson, AZ. Nikki was ‘Mimi’ to 12 grand children and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Doris Adams of Gardner, MA and brother, Robert Burns of Twin Mountains, NH. Nikki & Dick moved to Phoenix, AZ from Lansdowne, PA in 1972. They are members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where Nikki served as a Eucharistic Minister, Minister of the Word, Choir Member, Parish Council for Fr. Jack Spaulding and Bishop Elect James Wall, Prefect of Our Lady of Assumption Sodality, President of Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, and Council member for Bishop Thomas O’Brien. Nikki, a 3rd Order Franciscan, was also active in the Annual Rosary Sunday event. Donations in her name may be made to Our Lady of Assumption Sodality at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or Hospice of the Valley Coronado Home at 340 E. Coronado in Phoenix, 85004. Friday, February 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM, the family invites friends to join them for Rosary and Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church at 24th St & Campbell in Phoenix. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Arrangements made through Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.

I just found this page. I am sorry to be so late to send condolences, but I lost all my address info for your family. I am glad to have this opportunity to offer my sympathies, You may know my Mom joined Aunt Nikki last June. My Dad will be with them soon. I am afraid we do not have much time left to enjoy him.
